Self Love Is a Choice I Keep Making

Life has a way of pulling us in so many different directions. As an artist, a mom, a business owner, and someone who pours so much into other people, I’ve learned that if I don’t intentionally choose myself, I can easily end up running on empty. This piece became my reminder that I matter too.

When I shared this video on TikTok, I had no idea it would resonate with so many people. Reading the comments reminded me that so many of us are looking for peace, healing, and the freedom to love ourselves without guilt. I also loved seeing how many people connected with the song. “My Life” by @chinastyles paired so beautifully with the message behind the artwork. Sometimes the right music and the right visual come together and speak directly to the heart.

One thing people may not realize is that the girl you see in the mirror wasn’t hand painted by me. I used AI to create that image, and I had so much fun doing it. As an artist, I don’t see AI as replacing creativity. I see it as another tool to explore. I’m always experimenting with different avenues of art, whether that’s acrylic pouring, mixed media, murals, digital art, photography, video, or AI. For me, it’s never about the tool. It’s about the message. If I can use a new medium to spread love, healing, encouragement, and hope, then I’m excited to explore it.

The affirmations around the mirror were intentional. “I am enough.” “Peace flows within me.” “God’s timing is perfect.” Those aren’t just words decorating an image. They’re reminders that I hope people hold onto long after they scroll past the video.

If you haven’t watched it yet, I’d love for you to take a moment to watch it and let me know what it means to you. If it encourages you, leave a comment, share it with someone who needs it, and follow me on TikTok. I’m always creating, experimenting, and finding new ways to use art to inspire conversations around healing, faith, love, and purpose.

One of my favorite things about this piece is that it doesn’t just exist as artwork on a screen or in a gallery. You can bring that reminder into your everyday life. Whether you’re drinking your morning coffee, relaxing on the couch, or reading a good book after a long day, I hope these pieces remind you to choose yourself with the same love and grace you so freely give to everyone else.
